Week 17, 18 & 19 - The final mile!

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome back! The past three weeks we have been very busy for us. We had to get right back into it after the two week Christmas break and worked hard on reporting our field research as well as translating the facts we collected into insights and then into design guidelines to help finalise our full concept.

Company meeting

We have a successful meeting with the company as we shared the insights gathered from the field research. The feedback we received was directly applicable to the concept and improvements could be made immediately. We also heard the great news that the project we have been working on will be further developed by the company! What fantastic news.

Developing the Business Model & Implementation plan

Next to this, we also started developing the business model around the malaria consultation service and application (MCSA). Using the business model canvas from Osterwalder, a nice visual overview of the different components the company should consider was created. Based on this and the company feedback, an implementation plan for the concept was designed. We developed both a short term and a long term plan for the MCSA.

Meeting with Dr. Ria & Dr. Niels

Towards the end of the three weeks, we met up with Dr. Ria and Dr. Niels to discuss our field research and the details of the application respectively. They were relaxed presentations which summarised our whole project. We met both Dr. Ria and Dr. Niels at the very beginning of the project before any results were evident, so this was a great moment to update them with how the project has developed over the 6 months and what it as accumulated to. With some final remarks and positive words, we were able to further improve our final concept. This was also a fine opportunity for us to practice our presentation before the two final ones we have to give to the company (Feb 1) and at the symposium (Feb 3).

The final mile!

The coming week we will be finalising our project, finishing off the last design report and preparing our presentations. We are looking forward to present our concept to the company and to others at the symposium, and therefore we would like to invite you, yes you! to the mini symposium this coming Friday (Feb 3) at the Industrial Design Engineering Faculty at the TU Delft from 9:30-13:00 in the IDE Arena. Teams who have worked on similar projects in low resource settings will also present their outcomes. Studio Sunshine will be presenting at 11:35-12:00; we look forward to seeing you there!
