Week 9 - Time to get creative

Last week we entered a new phase: in the coming month we will generate ideas, create concepts and prepare user tests in Uganda!

Cleaning up

A new phase asks for clean walls to make room for more solution specific information and all our ideas during brainstorm sessions. So we started on Monday with removing all the irrelevant information from the wall.

Brainstorming

Since the project goal consists of different elements, we have splitted the main problem into several sub problems. When doing this, it is important to choose a clear formulation to make sure everybody interpret them in the same way.

Discussing sub-solutions

We discussed all sub-problems and we came up with a lot of possible sub solutions. Some were silly, others more relevant and feasible. To organise all useful ideas, we made a Morphological Chart. In this method the problems are placed on top of the chart and the solutions are listed underneath. As you can see in the picture below, we came up with many ideas! Creating the Morphological Chart

The complete Morphological Chart

The next step is to combine different solutions into complete ideas. In a chart like this, endless combinations are possible. This will provide us with surprising combinations for new inspiration. Besides, the method ensures complete solutions, covering all sub problems.

Last but not least: the travel plans!

We finally booked the tickets, so the travel plans are official. G-Young and Chéron will be in Uganda from the 2nd till the 16th of December. Jozine and Mirte from the 9th till the 23rd. So in total, we will have three weeks in the field to speak to the stakeholders, test our designs and improve the concepts.

Coming soon...

Some creative sessions will follow as well as further exploration of relevant background information and the available technology.
