Last week has been very busy but exciting! The first two of our team were flying to Uganda on Friday so all the testing had to be prepared, an application had to be designed and we made a start on the report of the concept phase.

A long flight

Cause of a delayed flight, Chéron and G-Young arrived on Sunday morning in Uganda, one day later than planned. But the first impression of this (sunny) country was great and they are welcomed by really kind people in the hotel. On Monday they drove to Kibaale, a small village they will stay the rest of the trip to meet local people and organise several user tests.

An application to test

Our goal is to facilitate a malaria consultation for the local entrepreneurs in rural areas. To achieve this goal, a malaria consultation app is designed for the local entrepreneur, which will be used in combination with a thermometer and RDTs. The consultation app describes all steps of the consultation, asks relevant questions and provides educative movies. In the end, when the temperature is measured and all questions are answered, the app will be able to provide the patient with a medical advice.

A test version of the application is made to test the usability, the interaction and the content of the app and to optimize the design by the feedback of local entrepreneurs.

Coming soon...

This week we will finish the report of the concept phase, what means we can start the third and final phase of the project: elaboration & implementation phase. This will include the several user tests and improvements of the design, creating a business plan, co-creating the content of the app with experts and making a feasible implementation plan.

But first of all, on Friday afternoon Jozine and Mirte are flying to Uganda too so the four of us will be reunited in Uganda to test and explore the possibilities of this consultation app!
