Week 14 - Plan & Iterations

Making a plan for coming weeks

We started our day with meeting Edward, the warehouse manager, at the HE office. We explained our concept in detail and asked for feedback from Dorothy and Edward. It was meaningful for us to hear the perspectives from the experts of the system.

Discussing the concept

With their help, we could make an overall schedule for the next weeks. The main events would be visiting more entrepreneurs and holding a workshop with a group of entrepreneurs.

Making Iterations

The schedule for Friday was delayed until the coming Monday. We decided to make iteration in the concept and prototype. There were some additional design requirements found from the observation and interviews. We started to make improvements in the flowchart. The number of steps of in application was reduced and simplified. The interface was also redesigned in the way that it is more user friendly and easy to understand.

Working hard on the iterations

Meeting the programme coordinator from Emesco

In the afternoon, we met Nicholas from Emesco Development Foundation. He is in charge of education programme of WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) in the community. Another important role he has is training the VHTs. He joined Emesco in 2007 and trained VHTs every year. Nicholas has seen the individual development of VHTs as well as the community as a whole.

Emesco visit again!

We learned about how VHTs are trained and how Emesco is involved throughout their activities in the community. Moreover, Nicholas gave us insights about the level of education of VHTs and impact measurement afterwards. He was positive our iterated concept could be useful for the local entrepreneurs and provided more practical advice for further improvements.

The coming Monday and Tuesday will be full working days with the local entrepreneurs with the complete team.

The second journey started!

Last but most important, our two members (Mirte and Jozine) have departed from Amsterdam! We are very excited to meet again and share all the information and experience we had in the first week with them.
