Week 7 - Meeting the tablet & Documenting
Meeting the tablet!
This week started with the second meeting with our client, Healthy Entrepreneurs. It was very exciting to finally see the real tablet and applications that are used by the local entrepreneurs.
Let me introduce you little bit about the tablet and what Healthy Entrepreneurs do. Healthy Entrepreneurs are striving for “improving access to reliable and affordable healthcare service and products for families in developing countries.” They are focusing on the informal sector of healthcare services in field by involving the local entrepreneurs who can spread their knowledge and bring the access to their communities.

One of their innovative way is to integrate the tablet with the service. There are four applications developed for assisting different needs; education, counselling, product catalogue and stock management. For example, they show informational videos in the education application. The topics include sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, wash, maternal and child health and diseases. It is provided in the local language. According to the Healthy Entrepreneurs, involving a tablet proves to be highly effective. Moreover, the local entrepreneurs consider the tablet as a very precious belonging and professionally apply it in their service.
Along with that, we were able to discuss our travel plan and the focus of project with Timo, our main contact. Moreover, it could be more valuable because our coach, JC, and research assistant, Rikako, were there to share his insights and provide us useful feedback. Afterwards, we could finalise the focus of our project with everyone on board.
Documenting & Documenting...!
For the rest of week, we continued with documenting our progress in the first phase. The report includes our research outcome, problem definition, design brief and initial directions. Based on these, we will begin the next phase with brainstorming ideas and developing them further into the concepts.
